The PMICF Experience

The Pro Musica International Choral Festival, Albany Pro Musica’s flagship educational program, is a week-long choral institute held at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

What to Expect

Work closely with Dr. Rollo Dilworth, composer and conductor in residence, and Dr. José Daniel Flores-Caraballo, Opalka Family Artistic Director of Albany Pro Musica and Festival Artistic Director

Rehearse and perform under the guidance of an internationally recognized, world-class faculty of conductors, composers, and educators, and other vocal artists

Sing alongside acclaimed professional ensembles, including Albany Pro Musica’s Chamber Singers and the Canadian Chamber Choir

Strengthen their musicianship and vocal technique through intensive rehearsals, sectionals, clinics, and performance experiences

Explore a diverse range of choral repertoire, culminating in the world premiere of a newly commissioned work

Perform for their peers in the Student Choir Showcase Concert, either with their home choir or as part of the Wayfarer Chorus, for individual festival participants and led by Maestro Flores-Caraballo

Perform in the Many Voices One World Concert, sharing the stage with Albany Pro Musica in a culminating performance that reflects the full scope of the week’s work

Enjoy an immersive pre-college campus experience at Queen’s University, lodging and dining in campus facilities throughout the week

Workshops with the Canadian Chamber Choir; rehearsal; panel discussion with directors and faculty

Wednesday July 21

Rehearsals; workshop with composer and conductor in residence Dr. Rollo Dilworth; leisure/cultural activity

Workshops and classes with festival faculty; rehearsals; Student Choir Showcase Concert

Workshops and classes with festival faculty; rehearsals; Faculty and Student Showcase Cabaret

Dress rehearsals; closing festival concert featuring the Student Festival Chorus and Albany Pro Musica; closing night reception
