Albany Pro Musica and the Pro Musica Pops will present some of our audience’s all-time favorite showtunes, arranged for chorus, small ensembles, and soloists, and featuring Broadway talent Jamari Johnson Williams.

This poignant oratorio for chorus, soloists, and chamber orchestra tells the heartbreaking story of Matthew Shepard, a young gay man who was brutally murdered in Wyoming in 1998.

From the hushed opening notes of Lauridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium” to the joyful mix of traditional carols in Bennett and Shaw’s “The Many Moods of Christmas” suite, this concert inspires and delights audiences each year.

Albany Pro Musica’s opening concert of the 2024-2025 season will feature music that examines the delicate balance of light and dark, and explores the passing of the seasons in the far North, including compositions by Grieg, Sibelius, Alfvén, and former APM Composer-in-Residence, Ola Gjeilo.

This choral and orchestral masterpiece features maestro Fabio Luisi and an international roster of vocalists alongside the capital region’s own Albany Pro Musica.

Albany Pro Musica will be joined by renowned guest soloists and experts in historically informed performance who play in period-instrument orchestras such as the Handel + Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, Apollo’s Fire, Trinity Baroque, and others.
