Emergent Universe Oratorio: a featured performance of the Pro Musica International Choral Festival

July 18 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$60

Albany Pro Musica’s Concert Chorus will present the Emergent Universe Oratorio, a dramatic contemporary piece for chorus and orchestra by Sam Guarnaccia. This remarkable work tells the awe-inspiring story of our universe’s origin, evolution, and emergence of life, through to the present environmental and civilizational crises facing our planet. The performance features Albany Pro Musica with the Mostly Modern Orchestra; guest soloists Evangelia Leontis, Elizabeth Eschen Cacciola, Brendan Hoffman, and Joseph Han; the Pro Musica International Choral Festival student chorus; and orator Rex Smith. The music is enhanced by a lush and evocative visual set design by painter Cami Davis.

The Pro Musica International Choral Festival is a FREE, week-long choral institute for high-school students, held at the University at Albany. Students develop their musicianship through rehearsals, workshops, and vocal clinics with a renowned faculty, and sing under the direction of esteemed guest conductors and alongside professional ensembles.

The Festival will offer three remarkable performances which will be open to the public, featuring EXIGENCE, Albany Pro Musica, and the Student Festival Chorus.
