With nearly 100 musicians performing for about two-and-a-half hours, Albany Pro Musica’s performance of Bach’s Mass in B Minor was a triumphant once-in-an-era undertaking. 

With nearly 100 musicians performing for about two-and-a-half hours, Albany Pro Musica’s performance of Bach’s Mass in B Minor was a triumphant once-in-an-era undertaking.

The performance had an unforced majesty thanks to the grounded, secure and inviting leadership of maestro Jose Daniel Flores-Caraballo. The many numbers for massed voices felt universal, almost cosmic. A highlight of the non-choral sections was “Domine Deus” a sprightly duet sung with playful charm by soprano Clara Rottsolk and tenor Dann Coakwell, plus Andrea LeBlanc on the flute.
