The opening concert of APM’s 46th season offers an intimate program of a cappella and piano-accompanied choral works that represent the richly diverse and sometimes-silenced voices of the American immigrant experience. Inspired by Emma Lazarus’s profound poem “The New Colossus,” which is immortalized in bronze beside the Statue of Liberty, this program features music that has emerged from the ever-hopeful American dream of freedom and opportunity, a beacon of light in a dark world.
