“There was barely a dry eye in the group,” José Daniel Flores-Caraballo, Opalka Family Artistic Director, Albany Pro Musica, says the first read-through of “Considering Matthew Shepard” was emotional for their artists.
Albany Pro Musica will be performing “Considering Matthew Shepard” this Sunday at 3 p.m. at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. The work tells the story of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year old gay student who was beaten and murdered in Wyoming in 1998. His death sparked inspiration for a movement for equal rights, along with hate-crime legislation.
