High School Choral Festival

Composer-In-Residence Ola Gjeilo, The Musicians of Ma’alwyck, and local high school choirs will share the stage with Albany Pro Musica after a showcase of individual performances

Hearts will pound as gifted student musicians join Albany Pro Musica onstage for a transforming experience: the chance to sing with the region’s premier chorus at a nationally renowned concert hall.  Choirs from local high schools will all perform individually, followed by a grand finale – 260 voices and instrumentalists under the baton of APM Artistic Director José Daniel Flores-Caraballo.

Across the Vast, Eternal Sky

the music of Ola Gjeilo, featuring the American String Quartet

The Artist Series opens Albany Pro Musica’s 37th season with an evocative concert featuring the music of Composer-In-Residence Ola Gjeilo.  Titles that launched his International fame, such as “Ubi Caritas”, “Dark Night of the Soul” and “Across the Vast Eternal Sky” are part of this inspiring program.  The American String Quartet will join Gjeilo on the piano after performing one of their signature masterworks:  Beethoven String Quartet Op. 95 in F Minor, Serioso.

The Armed Man – A Mass for Peace

APM’s Masterworks Chorus, Mezzo-Soprano Lucille Beer, the Orchestra Pro Musica and the Capital District Youth Chorale will join forces to deliver this moving work


The Orchestra Pro Musica joins APM in a stirring performance of Karl Jenkins’ mass for peace. “The Armed Man” outlines the growing menace of war, interspersed with moments of reflection, and ends with the hope for peace.
